"Where Image Meets Imagination"
I believe Art has a Power ~ A Power to move and connect us with the emotional and spiritual realms of our beings~ A Power to take us on infinite journeys through windows of space and time... journeys limited only by our imaginations.
Each journey begins with multiple layers of my original photos and an idea. Using a detailed process of dismantling, editing, and reconstruction I create new, unique pieces of art which then tell stories of their own.
This allows me to take my viewers on journeys beyond traditional photography.
Moved by the rich colors, mystery, and emotional influence of master painters, as well intrigued by the mind-bending works of surreal artists has helped to shape my passion to create.
Inspiration comes in many forms... things I see, feel, dream, imagine, and believe in.
I think one of the most exciting parts of the journey is never knowing where the next story will lead.
"Where Image Meets Imagination"
Shara Abel transports her viewers on infinite journeys through space and time with her thought-provoking photographic art creations. Sensing a kindred spirit to the complexity of conceptual art, composites, and surrealism, you can often see these characteristics mirrored in Shara's fantasy pieces.
Carefully crafting together multiple layers of her original photographic images through a detailed process of dismantling, editing and reconstructing, Shara creates unique new pieces, which then tell stories of their own. All images, photos, and textures used in her work are photos she has taken herself.
Shara's journey began after winning her first photography contest in 2009. In 2011, she left a career in medicine, moved from Northern Virginia to Central Florida and decided to pursue her passion for photography.
While exploring traditional photography avenues she continually felt an intense pull to create something more than the image before her. Through extensive editing and experimentation Shara discovered how to create “visual magic” in 2017, and her fire was lit!
In 2019 Shara completed the New York Institute of Photography program and continues to learn by persistent study and experimentation. She is grateful to the artists and photographers who have shared their knowledge along the way.
Shara earned and was awarded her photographic judging certificate in 2022 from the Florida Camera Club Council.
Shara's work has been well received and won many awards. Her work has appeared in multiple exhibits at museums, galleries and shows. Her work has also been used commercially and is held in domestic and international private collections.
